On a regular basis I have people call or email me and say “check out my blue gotti pitbull” I than ask to see the pedigree on the dog and they usually say “I don’t have the papers for my dog”. This is a common problem I hear with people that are very uneducated with the gottiline as a pitbull bloodline and don’t understand to truly prove your dog is from this famous bloodline you need to have proof in the pedigree of the dog to truly know if your dog is what you say it is. If you don’t have the paperwork that shows the bloodline of your dog than you really don’t know if your dog truly was from a famous bloodline or not so please stop saying it is because most breeders will know your full of sh**. The gotti pitbulls is one of the most popular bloodlines in the bully community. The popularity is in the United states and has recently spread internationally. This famous bloodline was created in 1997 by Richard Barajas of the West Side Kennels in Los Angeles . The sire that created this line was “The Notorious Juan Gotti” (pictured Above) who was purchased from Tony Moore. (gray line kennels) Juan Gotti sired more than 800 UKC registered American Pitbull Terriers with speculation of even more. Gotti pitbull kennels is spread out through all corners of the world expanding to a new place every single day. It’s crazy how diverse the Gotti line bloodline has become all from one sire. Juan Gotti is the foundation to many XXL Pitbulls reaching up to weights of 150 lbs, and also the foundation to a wide range of Pocket style pits weighing clear down to 70 lbs. This bloodline was created from out crossing “Juan Gotti” to different lines of dams and having the offspring crossed with other offspring this line breeding formed and solidified this line and formed what we know it today.

Appearance

The appearance of gotti bred pitbulls is very distinct from every other pitbull bloodline. They have a more distinct bulldog look being shorter, with a thicker body and a massive head. They’ve also bred out the fighting mentality in this bloodline to help create more of a family oriented dog. This line has been bred out in so many different directions it’s hard to find a true Gottiline Pitbull, rather there is a variety mixed with other famous bloodlines. Gottiline pitbulls were the main foundation stock for the popular American Bully. I would claim this line to be more American Bully than any sort of Pitbull.

Popularity

Gotti pitbull puppies are extremely popular, gaining a lot of popularity in it’s very short existence. There is many kennels that specialize on just this one specific line. This line has went from Asia, Europe, Australia, South America and all corners of North America. Outstanding temperament and muscular build has drove this line to the top. This is one of the most popular pitbull bloodlines used today right up there with razorsedge. It continues to gain popularity as many more breeders are expanding this line to different heights. If you’ve ever heard anything about pitbulls you’ve seen many people before claiming or actually having gotti pitbull puppies for sale. A lot of the gained popularity is in the name. Gotti is a distinguishable name, that comes from the iconic American Mobster John Gotti.

The Gotti pitbulls are being bred by everyone. Every person under the sun has started to say they are breeding “gottiline” pitbulls or so they say. If any breeder says they have a gotti pup you need to see paperwork, a dog without papers is just a mutt. I see to many people every day over paying for a dog they could get at the pound for a fourth of the price. Be sure to research the breed and check documents and check the pedigree that traces back to the original gotti stock.

The Controversy

There is a lot of speculation on the purity of “Juan Gotti” and the gotti bloodline as a whole. As their has been allegations of this line being diluted by the crossing of other breeds such as the American Bulldog, and a different range of bulldogs. The speculation comes from the gotti look of being shorter, and stockier then other pitbull bloodlines. It’s not hard to tell their has been some out crossing with other breeds, do to the diversity in this line compared to most other pitbull bloodlines at this time. Crossing possibly could be from bulldogs, mastiffs and other bully breeds. Nobody will ever know besides the guys that bred the dogs. It’s truly amazing what has been created and the directions the pitbull is headed after this line. It’d be safe to say the original founders of the gotti pitbull is almost a whole new breed and this bloodline was well ahead of its time and started a whole new movement of dogs.
